Elmore County residents in the Santuck community now have access to a new Fixed Wireless Internet tower. This tower will benefit homes and small businesses in rural and underserved locations in Elmore County.
Fixed Wireless Internet service delivers a home internet connection with download speeds of at least 10Mbps and upload speeds of at least 1Mbps. The connection comes from a wireless tower to a fixed antenna on customers’ homes or businesses. These towers are fed by part of the more than 4 million strand miles of AT&T fiber optics that cover Alabama. This is an efficient way to deliver high-quality, high-speed internet to customers living in underserved rural areas.
“The Elmore County Commission applauds AT&T for their continued work to enhance high-speed connectivity for our residents and small businesses,” stated Elmore County Commission Chairman Troy Stubbs.
Commissioner Bart Mercer who is the County’s liaison for economic development efforts said, “I am thankful for AT&T, the Elmore County Economic Development Authority and the County Commission’s efforts to expand broadband access to the citizens of our county. Broadband is an essential service to ensure our residents enjoy a high quality of life and so our business community remains competitive in today’s global economy.”
