Recently, the Rural Technology Summit was held at the University of West Alabama. In addition to an Elmore County representative attending the event, there were also many small business owners, utility companies, community leaders, university students, and others. The main topic of conversation was the lack of broadband in rural Alabama and what it will take for us to get “up to speed” on the ways technology is advancing. While there are many ideas of how to get the broadband to the under served areas, questions related to the affordability and most cost effective ways to deploy the technologies continue to be key in the conversation.
