During the National Association of Counties (NACo) Legislative Conference this year, County Commissioners received information about a newly released app called TestIT (available for iOS and Android) that NACo will utilize to collect connection speeds, broadband carrier info and the location of the connection. This data is being collected to assist in accurate depictions of broadband coverage areas.
Data collection will run through the early fall of 2019 when initial data will be shared with the FCC for use in updating the FCC Broadband coverage maps. Continued collection of data will be dependent on the initial response and results of the study according to NACo staff.
