Elmore County Emergency Management Agency participated in the 2019 Alabama Disaster Preparedness Conference last week. Elmore County EMA staff was able to participate in training that included Disaster Warehouse Management, Risk Management & Dam Inventory Updates, and Engineering Support Resources following a disaster. In addition, they were honored to hear Governor Kay Ivey speak on the importance of local EMA offices and staff that play a role in preparing, mitigating, and responding to disasters in Alabama.
During the conference, the Elmore County EMA Director, Keith Barnett, was nominated and elected to serve as the Area Director-Area 4 for the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers. The AAEM is an organization comprised of individuals professionally engaged in the advancement of emergency management.
